Aareal Award of Excellence 2014

The Real Estate Management Institute (REMI) of the EBS Business School and Aareal Bank AG have granted for the seventh time the Aareal Award of Excellence in Real Estate Research for academically-outstanding research work in real estate economics. The majority of the applications came from abroad and especially from North America and Asia.

This year's topics were: property financing, real estate management and sustainability/environmental efficiency in the real estate sector for the three categories: Dissertation, Research Paper, MSc-/BSc-/Diploma Thesis. The winners received their awards from the initiators: Professor Nico B. Rottke, EBS REMI, Dagmar Knopek, Aareal Bank AG and Christof Hardebusch, Immobilien Manager Verlag.

The winners

Category of Dissertation/Ph.D

Dr Avis Devine, University of Cincinnati, USA, for her work: „Three Essays in Residential Real Estate Topics: An Examination of Rental Tenure, Green Residential Construction Policy and Green Residential Rental Rates” (abstract).

Category of Research paper

Qing Li, National University of Singapore, for her work: „Property Dispositions and REIT Credit Rankings“ (abstract).

Category of DMSc-/BSc-/Diploma Thesis

Rebecca Disbrow, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, for her work: „When the Market Wants to Build Big: the Economic Feasibility of Micro Units in NYC” (abstract).
